Okay, something about me... What's there to say? To my old friends... y'all already know me, I'm an open book. What are you doing here anyway, having a slow day?! Checking up on me? Looking for secrets?! To any new friends... mere words do not describe me. (No, no, only kidding!)

Let's see... I love to read, explore, learn and try new things, and do all kinds of family stuff. I like spending time with my friends, solving all the world's problems, that kind of thing. Also, turning up the music really loud & dancing around the house... I also like to win contests, do volunteer work, and laugh a lot!

I have fun beating people at trivia, playing games and tinkering with computer stuff. (okay, okay... it's not the 'beating' part I like about trivia, it's the competition; I just said that to gig those loser friends and they KNOW who they are!!) Also, add politics, history, and herb growing to that list. I sort of randomly collect heart-shaped things (I bet you couldn't tell by looking at this site!) but I'm not obsessive about it.

As my friends know, I'm a news junkie and I like Neil Young music. (yeah, yeah... alright, I do like lots of other music, too... not all Neil Young songs are good for dancing around the house, ya know!) I also like camping, hiking, Tex-Mex food, ice cream (especially ice cream sandwiches... mmm!) and helping others learn something new. I'm a Girl Scout leader for a bunch of sweet first grade Brownies.

When I'm online, I'm often talking to my friends using ICQ. (such a handy program!) I suppose I'll also admit to liking my idiotic cat some of the time... As you may already know, I'll discuss and/or argue nearly anything! I'm currently attending college full-time for a new degree and majoring in E-Business Media.

My book club is currently reading Hitler's Niece by Ron Hansen. If you have any personal insight about this book you'd like to share, please e-mail me. I'd enjoy hearing whether you loved it, hated it, ideas for discussion topics, whatever. Our next book will be UNDECIDED. Book recommendations are appreciated! (Especially as I have yet to pick MY next choice for us to read!) Almost anything goes, I read quite an eclectic range of books and I can always blame you if my book club hates your selection. (Kidding... I would never do that!!)

One of my favorite books I've read this past year: "Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West" by Stephen E. Ambrose. I thought it was quite fascinating, but then y'all should know I tend to like that sort of thing! I even made my book club read it... poor things!

Looking for something to read? So far, our book club has finished reading & discussing the following books:

Do people really win contests??
(I don't update this page too often but I try to remember to since
people always ask me "What have you won lately?!")

VOLUNTEERING

Yep, I'm a serious PTA/PTSO volunteer, holding various duties over the years... I spent three years as a school volunteer coordinator, two years at the middle school level and one year at my son's high school. Yes, actually that IS the Volunteer Job from Hell; I just happen to be very good at it. :-) I also did a few years of volunteering for the Boy Scouts & a couple of other local groups. I do less of it this year because of my college schedule but still say 'yes' too many times! Currently, I lead a Brownie Girl Scout troop of eight fun first graders, and help out regularly at my kids' high school and elementary school. Those are the jobs I officially do, anyway. I'm always helping out in all sorts of other ways as well.
